Caitlyn + Chris = Married!
I first met Caitlyn in September. Two months before her wedding. At first I thought there was some circumstance that had caused them to plan a wedding in only two months. But after I met her, I realized (because she told me) that is just the kind of person she is, beautiful, friendly, funny, and very laid back. They had been engaged almost a year but Chris is in the Army and he was getting ready to be deployed It was important for them to exchange vows before he left.
November weddings can be risky but not this one. The weather was perfect and while this loving couple exchanged vows, a light fall breeze sent colorful leaves falling all around them. When you look at Chris, you see the military. A soldier. He stood perfectly straight, his suit and shoes were polished and pressed, and he kept a straight, serious but yet charming face. Until he saw Caitlyn. When she smiles, he smiles. When she's a little goofy, he laughs. When she dances, he turns with her. And when Caitlyn accidentally spilled red wine on her dress (most brides would have FREAKED out), Chris grabbed her hand and they laughed together. They bring out the best in each other.
Caitlyn and Chris were the first interracial couple that James and I have photographed. And for this, they will always have a special place with us. We don't often talk about the challenges that we face as an interracial couple, mainly because after dating almost five years, we've become color blind. To see it in marriage, it's truly special. It's a beautiful thing, seeing a room full of people who don't see color, race, backgrounds, just love. James and I are both grateful to share something so amazing with such a wonderful couple. We worked hard to capture their personalities, their laughs, their smiles, and most of all, their love. We wish them both happiness for years and years to come. I hope this blog makes you smile!
We headed to La Vieille Maison for the ceremony and reception to follow! Falls Park is just a short walk away. We headed down to the park to capture some family and group shots! haha :) Time to eat some cake and do a little dancing! Caitlyn and Chris asked some special friends to join them during their first dance! Let's cut this cake! Time for the getaway! James and I would like to say a special Thank You to Chris and all the other soldiers that serve and protect our country! Thank you! And as always, leave some love in our comment box!
