Matt + Catherine = Wedding, Asheville, NC
I first time I met Matt, we were at a back yard pool party. He swung from ropes and fought in giant sumo suits. Someone told me he was math professor at Clemson. It's the only thing that could make sense, every math professor I've ever met wears sumo suits and swings from trees. True story. It wasn't to long after that when I met Catherine, the animated painter with a beautiful smile and an old soul. Nothing about this couple is ordinary and that is exactly what they wanted out of their wedding day. Being around them is always an adventure AND a learning experience. So needless to say, James and I were beyond honored when Catherine and Matt asked us to photograph their very unique and special wedding day! It's not a typical wedding for us and that made this adventure even more exciting!
Our adventure began in one of Matt and Catherine's favorite destinations, beautiful Asheville, NC. And as always, we learned so much along the way. From fig trees and juggling swords to Sarah Palin and Champagne! We had such a wonderful time and are super excited to finally get to share it!
We began our day at Adorn Salon, a place full of colors, textures, and peace.
Catherine's mom made this beautiful head piece for her to wear. It was her mom's way of being with her on her wedding day!
Jack of the Wood is home of the Green Man and was home to Matt and a few friends as they enjoy some craft brews before the ceremony!
Matt makes a new friend on the way back to the salon, more from this new found friendship later!
A ceremony filled with many smiles and laughs! You could really see how much joy they bring to each other!
An edible garden is tucked away in the heart of downtown. Figs, apples and more grow just behind the courthouse and is open to the public to eat and take photos!
On the way to meet up with the party, Matt spots an "Old Friend" and something amazing involving swords happens!
If you've never been to Battery Park Book Exchange and Champagne Bar, it should be a must on your next trip to Asheville!
The Book Exchange has such a vast range of books. We just had to grab some and have some fun!
MG Road quickly became a new fav spot! The food is amazing and it has a awesome atmosphere!
Every Friday night, a drum circle forms and people come to dance the night away right in the middle of downtown!
We ended the night at this great rooftop bar. The weather was as beautiful as the entire day! Thank you to Matt and Catherine and all the amazing people that made this day so special! Goodnight Asheville! See you again soon!
