Wedluxe

I just opened my invitation to the launch party of Vancouver’s latest wedding publication, and just by looking at it, you can tell Wedluxe is going to be a wild success. The shimmery envelope, the teal & brown colour combo, the romantic font, the silk ribbon: yup, this girl obviously knows a thing or two about attention to detail!

I’m talking about Angela Desveaux, the publisher and editor of this luxury wedding magazine. How she has the time and energy to create something like this is beyond me considering she and her husband Bruce already run a cutting-edge multimedia company as well as creating impeccable wedding stationary.

We’re totally excited to be connecting with other top professionals in the industry like amazing designer Kim Raddysh , gown gurus Angie & Janice from I Do Bridal just up the road from our home in White Rock (if you haven’t been to their salon & you haven’t yet found your dress, you must go – I’ll just leave it at that) and a bunch of other ridiculously talented Vancouver photographers like Lori Miles, Camille Fortin, Kim Christie, Reine Mihlta, Leanne Pedersen, Stephen & Jennifer Bebb, Sandra Leung and Jana Vackova.

From what I gather, the magazine is kindof like Canada’s answer to Grace Ormond’s Wedding Style, the ultra-posh US magazine (you can see our work in there too). Make sure you pick one up when the debut issue of Wedluxe is out. You can add it to the pile of great wedding mags out there - tons of inspiration for all our 2007 brides planning their weddings!

Jasmine+Kenny=Hip!

What do you get when you add scooters, a dance contest, and bare feet? One super-fun wedding! Jasmine was one of the most exuberant brides ever & her day was filled with laughter and joy. She and Kenny were all about celebrating every moment.

The guys arrive in style.
Jasmine and her father were super-excited about walking down the aisle.

What a day for a beachside wedding!
Kenny gives his new wife a piggyback across the sandflats.Until she challenges him to a race!
The happy couple nose to nose.
And on route (via scooters) to the reception on Granville Island.

Jasmine in her shades (look, there's Kenny in the reflection!).The most crazy cake-cutting of the season. With a butcher knife!

Instead of a first dance, they had a dance-off! Some smooth moves of the guests (a la Andy Warhol).

Speaking of dancing, check out the bride!

Love this shot by our second shooter Tim Beckford who came up from Florida to hang with us.

Although they loved to laugh, Jasmine and Kenny loved to snuggle too!

One of my favs from the day - loving the interesting light and lines.

Congrats guys!

Voicemail greeting of the year

Today is a wedding day and I was about to call my bride to give her a warm welcome to her wedding day when I remembered this. I forgot to blog about it several months ago, and its just too good to pass up. On the morning of one of my weddings, I called the bride just to check in on her before I went to the ceremony venue to prepare. I did not make this up! Her voicemail greeting said:
Quote:
"Today is my wedding day. I am the bride. I want to enjoy today and I do not want to take any more stupid phone calls with stupid questions that are going to stress me out. So don't leave me a message and don't expect a return phone call. Call my wedding planner. Kelly knows eveything. She can answer all questions because she knows all the answers. Again- don't call me. Call Kelly the wedding planner. Her number is 555-5555. Or you can call ####### (groom), because he went out drinking all night and deserves it."

Lisa+Kevin=Exquisite

Lisa & Kevin's wedding was all about the art of simplicity. Everything, from the clean lines of Lisa's Alfred Sung dress, to the silhouette of her Calla Lily bouquet, to the couple's intimate lunch reception, spoke of their love for classic elegance.

A sunlit morning to get ready.

Just look at Lisa's expression when she sees Kevin waiting for her at the end of the aisle.
And Kevin looking back at her.

Their rings were especially important to them.
Lisa's joy at being married!
And a quiet moment between husband and wife alone on the beach.

And on the dance floor.

One of my favourites - I just love the moment, especially in rich black&white.
But colour is fun too!
Congratulations, Lisa & Kevin! It was such a lovely day & we're so glad we could share it with you.

Dresses!

The wedding dress. It is what makes a bride a bride. And I'll be darned if I don't cry at the sight of nearly every single one of my clients in hers. It just makes me so happy, because I know what they're feeling. It's one of the best feelings in the world. Everything you've been planning for is finally here. You look stunning, feel beautiful, and you're about to get married to the most amazing guy on earth.
With that said...here is what my next few brides are wearing! Actually, 2 of them are Watters dresses and I couldn't get a photo that worked in the photoshow, so to see them go to the Watters website a,Styles 1088b and 7086b.

Saturday is the 1st wedding of the season! I'm so excited. Sad too of course, because I really enjoyed planning this wedding. The bride & groom actually live here locally, which is not typical. It was fun to be able to actually meet with her a few times over the last 5 months. And yes- we put this wedding together in just 5 months. It worked out well though, we stuck to the same task list, and just made quick decisions and a few compromises.
It felt like it was the longest summer. I think maybe because there were no hurricanes this year. Thank goodness we're just about over that hump.

Jessica+Gonz=Beautiful

What a day! We like to call Jessica & Gonz our supermodel couple since the camera just looooves them! Especially on their wedding day: the weather was glorious, the details, all pretty in pink, and their wedding party, totally fun-loving. But it was the moments between them that were truly beautiful.

Getting ready at the Fairmont was a flurry of excitement.
Loving the sparkley shoes!
The beautiful bride.

We arranged for Jessica and Gonz to have their First Look in Gastown. It was a tender, beautiful moment.
No wonder Gonz was happy!
I think the images from the sequence on our favourite hill are some of my favs from the year. I just love the way we played with the light to give Jessica that beautiful glow and keep Gonz all rugged in the shadows.

It was fun hanging with their wedding party.Cecil Green is such a beautiful venue and the room looked perfect.
A few moments during the ceremony. And during the speeches (Gonz serenaded his bride with a song).

Dancing the night away...

Michelle+Dustin=Original!

I love a girl who dares to be different! And Michelle was certainly a bride with her own sense of style! She looked absolutely captivating & chic in her passion-red gown.

One more of Michelle in her dress (she looks so fab, I couldn't resist!).

The dress was a surprise for Dustin, who waited anxiously to see her at their First Look. I love this tradition of the groom offering his bride-to-be her bouquet. Click PLAY below to see their romantic sequence.

They were mesmerized with each other.

The ceremony was just as poignant.

And their reception at Hazelmere was gorgeous as well, thanks to the luxe design of Kim at Wedding Design Studio.

Dustin and Michelle had a dreamy first dance. And then partied the night away like the rock stars they are! Hope you guys had a fantastic time on your Vegas honeymoon!
