Dale+Mai=Fun! | Todos Santos Hotel-Villa Santa Cruz

Todos Santos Wedding Photographers | Beach Boutique Hotel - Todos Santos

We love shooting in Mexico, and we love exploring new venues. So we were super-excited to discover what must be one of the most romantic boutique hotels in Baja, just a few minutes down the road from us! Our neighbors, and good friends Jessica & Mateo, designed, decorated, and run Villa Santa Cruz, a one-of-a-kind Todos Santos Hotel.

Imagine driving down a dusty dirt road, past acres of palm groves, deserted ranches, ancient cacti, and the odd cow, only to come to a golden hacienda set right on the beach. Guests convinced they must have been lost, must feel like Alice did when she fell down the rabbit hole and discovered a wonderland when they arive at this beautiful private villa!

Private and peaceful, and just over an hour away from the crowds of Cabo, Villa Santa Cruz is the ideal setting for an intimate destination wedding. And with its authentic Mexican details and vintage vibe (complete with a retro VW beach buggy!), it was a perfect backdrop for our YOU+ME wedding inspiration session with San Diego couple Dale+Mai. Could a couple be any more fun-loving & genuine? The connection between them was tangible - we loved photographing them!

Inside this boutique hotel on the beach, there are all kinds of vintage details, from antique brass door knockers to authentic mexican shot glasses for Villa Santa Cruz's own signature tequila.

Fields of agave+mountains+turquoise VW? LOVE!

A family of friendly dogs are part of the fun at Villa Santa Cruz.

Succulent florals by local Todos Santos florist Glitter Gal Jan from Pueblo Magico Weddings (link coming soon!). I love a bouquet that includes cactus!

Mai is simply beautiful!

Thanks, Dale & Mai!

And thank you to all those in Todos Santos who helped out with the shoot!

THE PRO SERIES: Sir Daniel and David's Inside Secrets

INSIDE SECRETS FROM
Sir Daniel  & David Frohmberg

When did you start working in the wedding industry?
Sir Daniel has been in the wedding industry for about 30 years and I (David) have been doing weddings for about 6 years. We have been working as a team for 5 years and together we are thrilled to have been a part of over 80 weddings last season.

What made you decide to go into the wedding/event industry?
It was a natural progression in the salon industry to be a part of weddings. As our business grew, we noticed that Naples and the surrounding area is destination wedding central and we wanted a piece of the action. We love working with the brides. Sir Daniel keeps them entertained and I keep them on schedule and when we are finished each bride has their own unique look that is photo-ready and is exactly what they dreamed of.

How many hours do you spend working with a client?
For the average wedding client that books at least 4 months in advance we spend between about 20 hours with computer emails and phone calls before the wedding. We spend at least 2 hours for a trial run, and then on average 5 hours day of wedding totaling 27 hours.

How long is your average wedding day from start to finish?
We like to do multiple weddings on the same day. On typical multiple wedding day in season we have to be out the door by 7:30 am and we are finished between 6 and 7 pm.

What can brides do to so that you can do a better job for them on their wedding day?
We are so thankful that most of our brides are very prepared. One big thing that can make our day run much smoother is to have their skin and hair prepped. Prepped hair means that it is clean and dry - with NO styling products in it. Let us add the product in, and this way your hairstyle will last all night. For the skin we like it to be clean and moisturized and sunburn free. Many of our girls from out of town don’t realize that it takes just minutes in the Florida sun to get badly sunburned - it can be covered with makeup most of the time. However, if the burn is severe and fresh the makeup will not adhere and we also have a very uncomfortable girl.

What is your favorite part of your job?
I love the actual day of the wedding, all of the hustle and bustle of the day and excitement!

What is the most difficult part of your job?
The most difficult part of my job is when a bride calls and I am already booked for her wedding date, I hate that.

What is your favorite part of a wedding?
Our favorite part of the weddings is the toast. You really get the inside scoop from the bridal party…;)

If you were to do a destination wedding anywhere in the world, where would it be?
We would love to do a wedding in Italy; it’s so beautiful over there!

What is your favorite…
Color: BLUE
Song:Ben Folds: The Luckiest
Food:Italian
Wedding movie scene: I would have to say the whole movie "Bridesmaids"!

Flower: Freesia
