A real wedding with Real Style Photography. But not Jest-er ordinary wedding.

I can't help the corny title, it was too hard to pass up. With Jester as a last name, I knew there would be fun with this crowd. It was a perfect wedding weekend. There really weren't any surprises until I got the photos back from the photographer. Why? Because they are phenomenal. Jason P Smith- remember that name. At the wedding I barely even knew he was there. He didn't pose anyone- ever. He just let it happen. I was nervous of course, thinking that there was no way he was getting any good shots. Boy was I wrong! I have a new name for his style of photography: Real. Basically, if you're looking to have still memories of your wedding the way it actually happened- Jason is your man. I can't wait to work with him again.
For the ceremony at South Seas resort we had a canopy structure designed that gave the beach some intrigue, but still allowed the backdrop of the ceremony be the true beauty of the space. While Holly walked down the aisle, I kid you not, there were dolphins jumping directly behind the groom. Unbelieveable.
Hollys one request for her bouquet was Lady Slipper Orchids. Well let me tell you something, it took a long trip from Thailand to get those blooms. I had my breath held for weeks that they would arrive. But it was worth it because Holly broke into tears when she saw them. Truly one of the most beautiful bouquets I've ever seen.
A couple little touches- we had a small cigar bar and a signature plate rather than favors and a guest book.
Dinner was out on the lawn under a bazillion stars and then we moved inside for a few great hours of dancing. Starting with an awesome 1st dance to Alicia Keys' "No one".

Daniel+Michelle=La Dolce Vita!

Daniel and Michelle were so much fun to photograph - they're total naturals in front of the camera and their energy was contagious - they even had Chris climbing trees!

They're also the ultimate dinner dates - they took us to what is now officially our favourite restaurant Caffe de Medici and we had a blast talking architecture, exotic travel, love, and life over plates of Gamberoni and Anatra and Italian beer (mmmm...hungry just thinking about it!).

We photographed their engagement session in the neighbourhood where Michelle grew up - you just can't beat cherry blossoms for spring romance in Vancouver.

Love this perspective Chris got from up above (and really glad he climbed up that tree, not me!).

We hung out in the skatepark for a while - and these two are so into each other, they didn't even notice this guy until he was practically on top of them!

Super-hot couple alert right here!

A wardrobe change (dontcha just love her pencil skirt dress?) and a little nuzzling under a moonlit sky.

And save our fav for last - love the shadows and drama and yes, downright sexiness in this image!

Congratulations, guys - we can't wait for the wedding!

A picnic engagement and more from Paris coming soon...

Holiday Weddings

Given the recent Memorial Day holiday, we thought we’d post about having weddings, including destination weddings, on holidays. It’s been a growing trend in recent and we’ve found ourselves invited to a number of them.

In general, having a destination wedding tied to a holiday is good for you and your guests because it means less time off of work for the wedding. And if your guests are making the trip to your destination wedding as a mini-vacation, this can work out well.

On the bad side, prices are typically higher at destination resorts during holiday periods, so you’ll pay – and it could be a LOT more. So you’ll need to carefully weigh the benefits vs. the costs.

But when considering holiday weddings, it doesn’t just mean U.S. holidays. If you are considering a wedding in Italy on June 1st, you’ll have to contend with Republic Day (and a nation-wide work stoppage). When planning your destination wedding and you are narrowing down the days, you should look carefully at a calendar to ensure that it is not a local holiday.

Jen+Rob=Vive L'amour!

Wow! What an amazing time we had in Paris with Rob and Jen, two people who truly know how to live life to the fullest! The Vancouver couple are so incredibly in love with each other and so full of joy - we feel honoured to have shared their day with them and their celebrations around the city of love.

There are so many wonderful moments from our time with them, it's impossible to choose our favourites, but here are a few (okay, more than a few!).

Rings.

Jen looking stunning in her oh-so-French birdcage veil.

Rob takes the Metro to the Louvre to see his bride for the first time.

Jen arrives in a classic French Citroen.

First Look.

Oh,happy day!

A few portraits in the dramatic setting before heading out to the ceremony.

We could have shot there all day! But, it was off to the the Eiffel Tower to meet Reverend Burns for the ceremony.

Exchanging vows beneath the tower - could anything be more romantic?

Married!

First kiss of husband and wife (and some yummy tilt-shift loveliness...

I think this just might be my favourite image of the day.

Everywhere we went, people came up to Jen and Rob to applaud and congratulate them. These young French girls were mesmerized by the beautiful bride.

Shopping and cafe-hopping on your wedding day? Mais oui!!

Truly, the best way to see Paris is by bicycle!

Especially when riding to Notre Dame for a celebratory picnic of bread, wine, and cheese on Pont St. Michel.

Bouquet toss into the Seine.

Sunset on Pont Alexandre III.

And exploring the city of lights by night...

Tilt-shift+pocket-wizards+video-light=sexy!

Hope you two are having a wonderful time on your cruise - don't forget to duck going under the bridges! Merci beaucoup et felicitations!
