You said the funniest thing.

Sometimes my clients just have me rolling. Today I get a client email about a cupcake design photo she was sent:
"The only thing I don't prefer about the cupcakes in this example is the doggie poo-shaped icing."

The crazy thing was that not even looking at the picture- I knew exactly what she was talking about. So, let this be a message to cupcake bakers everywhere. No doggie poo shaped icing please.

A Most Gorgeous Wedding: The Martha Paltrow SeriesThe After Glow

Once the amazing dinner was complete, and the formal dances were danced- the party really began.
Vox Blu brought down the house!

This is one of the few bands I recommend on a regular basis, and will fight over. Yes, they're that good.

The cake and cupcakes. Hello loves.
What a beautiful classic cake. This Kakes by Karen design tasted as exquisite as it appeared. Also on the dessert table there were Madelines, an assortment of candies, cookies and nuts, and my favorite Chocolate confections by the infamous Norman Love.

As a refresher, mid way through the after glow we sent around these sorbet scoops. and yes, the crowd went wild!

An authentic Italian Wedding on Sanibel Island

Never have I ever seen so much food. The menus for NYbride's wedding were looooong and fabulous. From the pre ceremony cocktail hour with seared tuna, fresh fruit kabobs and sangria -to the post ceremony cocktail hour with carving stations, lamb chops, and antipasta (and this is just the short list)- Sundial beach resorts chef outdid himself. Then we headed over to Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa where we had a 4 course meal followed by a dessert room. That's right- not a table, an entire room: Chocolate fondue station, cake, cookie & cupcake display, Nutella display, a candy station, and finally a sundae station. I can't wait to see the video AMCvideo got when we opened the doors to the room. The Nutella- it was the biggest jar we could find: 11 POUNDS! Each guest received a spoon on their seat that said, "We're nuts for each other and you'll think we're NUts when we TELLA you what this is for!" Joe & Lisa surprised their guests by rolling the Nutella out on a cart into the reception with the theme song from Willy Wonka playing. Then they fed each other with massive spoons. It was so fun!
Here are some outstanding photos from Jason Angelini. I "borrowed" them from his blog, which is so cool by the way- its written from his little boys point of view. For sure you should check it out!

The cupcake tower and NY Rangers grooms cake are from the amazing as usual Karen of Kakes by Karen. And the beautiful tropical centerpieces are from Floral Artistry.

Spotlight on: Impressions PhotographySummer Wedding at Sanibel Harbour

{Photography} Impressions Photography (Are they great at this or what?)
{Ceremony Venue} Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa (Best poolside ceremony location in Ft Myers)
{Reception Venue} Dolce Vita (You MUST eat here when visiting Sanibel)
{Cupcakes} Flour Cupcakes (I dream of these weekly)
{DJ} Clint Wiley (You guys know I adore Clint Wiley band)
{Band} Dana Paul & Joe McCormick (I still can't believe we had Dana Paul!)
{Floral} Weddings by Socialites (there is a story behind this- we aren't florists!)

This was one of the funnest wedding days ever. I think because it was a change from our usual calling of the ceremony on the beach and reception at the resort. Florida brides wedding started by welcoming their guests to the poolside ceremony with pink lemonade and mojitos and a selection of cool & refreshing hors dors. Cool and refreshing was key because it was HOT. Not hot, but HOT. As in , bring in the outdoor a/c. The hand fans certainly played a key factor in keeping guests cool as well. Before guests received their ceremony programs, we asked for their dinner selection. It was the first time we did this and it worked out perfectly! After the ceremony we had a champagne toast and then all headed over to Dolce Vita for the best dinner. It was spectacular. I adore restaurant wedding receptions, the food is always off the charts. After dinner the dance floor filled and stayed that way until the very last song. It was quite the evening. Oh, the flowers- read the story here: Ugly Bouquet.

Here's to Another Great Wedding!Writer Bride's Cheerful Celebration

Everything about Writer Bride makes me smile. Truly, she is one of the giddiest people I have had the pleasure to know. Why Writer Bride? She earned that title with the 1st email I received from her. Most inquiries I receive have a name, a wedding date, and maybe if I'm lucky- a possible location or city under consideration. Not Writer Bride though, her initial email took me twenty minutes to read and had me cracking up the whole way thru. Hilarious descriptions of everything from the way she and Mr. Writer met, to the planning chaos that she had been dealing with. The girl has had me laughing for months via over 300 emails we exchanged. By the way, 300 emails is on the low side for our clients (which is why we are a boutique firm). Writer Brides emails were longer, so we had fewer.
Her wedding reception was full of life. It was a rare occassion where we were able to use bright colors that just exuded happiness.
All photos in this post were taken by me, so yeah, they aren't so good because I am not a photographer who knows everything about lighting, angles, speed and all that stuff I find unfathomable to remember all at one time. But you get the point. To see better photos- always check out the photographers websites & blogs!

Location: South Seas Island Resort, Captiva, Florida Yes, we love doing weddings here!
Photographer: Ashley & Sam Brockinton, they ROCK!
CupCakes: Flour Cupcakes, kind of an addiction for me.

It was a busy day and I didn't get a picture after the entire room was complete. But weren't the colors awesome? Color changes everything gang! Check out the difference between white/ivory linens and color. For sure something to consider.
We did half low centerpieces and half high
Custom napkin rings! A simple detail that got lots of "Oooohhhs!"
Fun table numbers
This is the tall centerpiece
Fun lights in the boogie down room.
The little details table
The sign says it all. Writer bride loves Candy corn, so this was a little surprise for her.
The escort card table(notice we transformed it over the weekend!)
Engagement photo guest signature frame was a surprise from the Maid of Honor

Milk shots accompanied the cupcakes! We also used the milk shots for the after dinner toasts. That was so cute!

Unfortunatly, we got pretty tied up and were not able to get any pictures of the happy couple and their wedding ceremony. I'm sure though that photographers Ashley & Sam Brockinton will have plenty though. I had a sneak peek at a few pictures and I am certain you'll see that they are off the charts once they get a couple posted on their blog. Speaking of their blog- they just launched a new website and blog that I adore. Please check it out. They are amazingly talented and as fun as their bubble gum pictures.

Weddings by Socialites Party Reminder

I like reminders. That way I don't forget. Makes sense right? HA!
Here's your reminder and a couple more hints of super huge prizes to win tomorrow night our Party for the Brides. Did I mention that there will be champagne and cupcakes from FLOUR Cupcakes (yum is an understatement):
From Ken Wells at Cabbage Key Inn (oh how I wish I was allowed to win this one): A Two night stay with dockage included. You guys know how I feel about Cabbage Key...this place is so cool. We go every chance we can get. As someone who considers a night away is worth millions, this is worth 3.5 million.

From Shari Bare who decided to donate to the prize pool in a MORE THAN GRAND way...check out this blog post. Hmmmm you think maybe her prize might include one of these?

I'll bet that someone who loves to plan weddings and has a wedding planning studio might donate something wedding planning related as well. I don't know, just a wild guess. I'll guess that something like that might be GRAND several times over.

Oh, and just like I mentioned before in this post...photographer Julie Goodacre is in on this too. Totally worth stopping by for.

Wedding Pro's...want in? It's not too late. Call or email me.
