Black & White and read all overShopping inspiration

Today Michelle and I headed out to see if we could find a special table for Gwyneth Bride. We call her Gwyneth because she is so G. Paltrow its crazy. We adore her and her going to be off the charts gorgeous wedding. Back to shopping- I nearly had a meltdown when I got to my favorite shop because I realized I left my wallet at home. Ugh. Anyway, I was inspired by this months issue of Unveiled (I adore this magazine, its a must read). This issue is completely unique because its all about Black & White. Go get it.
So of course, I walk into the shop, and I find all this neat black and white that would be fantastic for a fun shower or bridesmaids luncheon. Best part- nothing over $4 a piece. Love that. These pieces might find their way onto a tablescape I'm doing next week.
While we didn't find the perfect table for Gwyenth bride, we did find these very cool 2.5 foot lanterns. These would be great at the beginning of a ceremony aisle with pillar candles inside and surrounded by big bushy peonies. Then we walked around the corner and found these monsters! I MUST HAVE THEM. Michelle is 5 foot, so you can see- these are big beyond big. I swear I could hear my poor abandoned wallet screaming, "come get me, I will buy them for you!". Michelle saved me by pulling me out of the shop with a Starbucks card. By the way, the new Tzao Vanilla Roobos latte is so good.

My Friday

On Fridays during the summer I close the office. But I don't take the day off. It's the day I use to run around and get things done that I can't do from my office. Most of my work week goes towards meetings and sitting at my desk for 10-12 hours, so Fridays can be fun. Here's a visual of this past Friday. I left off a few photos because when I looked back at everything I actually did- it was crazy and I thought for sure none of you would believe me. Anyway, here's the highlights:

Left to RIGHT, Top to Bottom (not in the order I did them):
1. This is the new DVD wrap that I designed for a local photgrapher. I dropped it off to to her and found out she had a housekeeper. I am jealous. Anyway, they turned out really great. Get this- the dvd wrap includes a thank you note in the pocket. I thought that was a nice touch.
2. I was looking for one of those digital photo frames for a client. I found a great new source for candles instead.
3. I did a site tour for a new venue. Very cool outdoor space, great for a 50-75 guest wedding.
4. Stopped at Starbucks. I love to read "The way I see it's". They always seem to make sense.
5. That's me. Don't worry, I was at a stop light. But I am sure someone thought I was a lunatic anyway.
6. While looking for lanterns for SD's wedding, I found these fantastic fabric wrapped boxes with a grosgrain ribbon. I bought the store out of them. They'll make for great end of season gift boxes. Now I just have to think of what to stuff them with.
7. I worked on 3 wedding dinner menus and 1 dessert reception menu.
8. I updated 4 budgets and started 2 new ones.

It was a great day.

The Wedding Podcast Network

As if this week couldn't get better...The Wedding Podcast Network selected this blog to syndicate their wedding podcasts! There's a link off to the right, in the sidebar. Not just anybody gets to offer the syndication, so I am honored.
Some of you might be wondering what the Wedding Podcast Network is. Well, it's cool, and you should for sure check it out. Basically, its "The largest most comprehensive collection of original wedding talk radio programming for couples planning their wedding. Conversations with newlyweds and wedding professionals sharing their first hand experiences." Yeah, I took that quote right from the WPN homepage. It is the best way to describe it. The content chages regularly, so check back often.
You can listen to podcasts on your ipod, your computer, or --- burn them to a cd so you can listen to them in your car, while flipping through Grace Ormonde Wedding Style as you are waiting in traffic on the way to Naples, while sipping on your Chai Tea Frap. from Starbucks.

This could be good or bad.

I've learned that I can blog from my cell phone, while sitting in traffic with my chai tea frap., while thumbing through this new Martha Stewart Weddings, between a cancelled wedding and meetings.

Cancelled wedding? Yep. I'll blog about that one tomorrow. That's what I'd like to call a blog CLIFFHANGER.

Today while in traffic, crossing the bridge to Sanibel Island

I read my Starbucks coffee cup:
The Way I See It #189

Leadership requires relentless preparation. You cannot predict every possible challenge. But if you prepare for those challenges you can predict, you will be better equipped to handle all problems, even the unexpected ones.

-- Rudolph W. Giuliani
Former mayor of New York City.

Wedding Planners should memorize this. And I'd also like to mention that I just love that they write my name on the cup. So personal. Thank you Starbucks people.
----------------------------------------
I read the latest issue of Modern Bride (April/may 2007). Two things I put post-it notes on:
1. Target will have their very own line of wedding dresses beginning in May. Courtesy of Isaac Mizrahi. How about that. Just something I noticed, none of the dresses fit in the picture. HA! It looks like all the models are too tall for the dresses! Hilarious. One of them is actually hunched over to make it look long enough.
2. Real Wedding, Fake Giraffe. Page 142, Flowery Fete. Fabulous wedding- but I kid you not there's a life sized plastic giraffe witnessing the wedding. Obviously the bride didn't read my blog because I know where to get a real giraffe for your wedding. I am so cracking up right now. I must say though- everything else about the wedding- I LOVE. Very chic.
